Data Science Office
Dr. Kim Durniak is the senior director of strategy and operations at Mass General Brigham Data Science Office (DSO). In this role, Dr. Durniak enables a collaborative, efficient, and productive environment to support the activities of the Data Science Office and works with leadership to ensure alignment with broader Mass General Brigham strategic initiatives. Dr. Durniak also leads efforts to support the Mass General Brigham Data & Tissue Sharing Committee, striving to balance data governance and patient privacy with innovation and advances in biomedical research. Prior to joining the DSO, she served as the administrative director of academic programs and policy in the office of the chief academic officer at Mass General Brigham. In this role, she was responsible for the coordination of operational and planning issues related to Mass General Brigham-wide scientific and academic initiatives. Prior to joining Mass General Brigham, she worked at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as the director of science policy initiatives, and as the program officer for Science and Technology Policy. She provided support for several projects, including Science in the Liberal Arts Curriculum and Scientists’ Understanding of the Public. She also managed a multimillion-dollar project, the Global Nuclear Future Initiative, that brought together key stakeholders to examine issues critical to ensuring a safe and secure nuclear order. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University and has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
